In computing, we are in a race to catch up with the past.

One can't find a Crossover cable anywhere. Bill Gates and Intel were So determined to give us speed to see all the fancy advertisements, that simple Network between 2 home computers to get some work done is next to impossible. We are back to the age of the sneakernet.

Apple Talk network

I remind myself that you have to have a crossover ethernet cable to network between two different computers.
I'm having problem with my Asante Talk (AppleTalk to Ethernet) converter that I bought on E-bay from a German site, I think.  I've tried connection via the "e3" port, with its TCP\IP, and it didn't work.  Next I must try with the "Ethernet integree" port on my Tiger.

The Chooser, AppleShare, and TCP/IP Problems connecting Tiger to PowerPC with System 7.6.1

Remember the "Chooser" in System 7.5, etc?  Well, I think I remember that when you do an AppleTalk network, you have to plug the AppleTalk cable into the printer port, not the Modem port on the back of the Macintosh.  It seems that even back in those days, you had to be connected to at least a dial-up internet connection to be able to configure your AppleTalk network --just to transfer files from the old Mac to the new Tiger Mac.

Mac Plus

How small the programs were.  In Writer+, by a French guy with an Italian name, I was able to run WriterPlus on a Mac PowerPC running system 7.1, after barely able to run it to read and Save as..to a floppy disc.  The Mac Plus took only DD floppies.  But the Mac PowerPC can read the DD (double density) disks and create IBM compatible disks on HD floppies. The PowerPC formats the HD (High Density) floppies in what Apple calls MS Dos.
